My reasons for loving Breastfeeding

Reason 1: For me my primary love of breastfeeding was that it appealed to the lazy side of my personality.
Without any effort on my part it was always available, at the correct temperature, sterile and didn’t go off.
Planning isn’t my strong point. So the thought of having to plan ahead and think about when the baby would be hungry and fill the kettle with fresh water and boil it, then cool it to the appropriate temperature, mix up a bottle and hope that my baby drank it within a given time frame so that I didn’t have to throw it away and start again was enough to strike fear in my heart. Then of course after all of this there is the fact that all of the bottles need to be sterilised ready to be used again.
Wow. That’s a lot to remember. Just writing that many steps requires a lot of energy.
Reason 2: I never had to think about where the day would take us and think ahead about the number of bottles I would need. If I was ever out later than planned it didn’t matter as everything my baby needed was right there, ready to go.
Reason 3: Babies can be expensive but by breastfeeding I was able to feed my baby for free.
Reason 4: The times I really appreciated the convenience of breastfeeding most of all, was in the middle of the night. While other mums had to get out of bed and go downstairs and make up bottles, I barely even woke up. When I heard my baby cry I reached out a weary arm and scooped baby towards me and plonked them on my boob. Then I would push them back into their basket at the end. Job done. I really like my sleep and the thought of having to fully wake up and worse actually get up is terrifying.
Reason 5: Another benefit was that my babies literally sucked all of the fat right out of me. By the time the children were finished with me I was slimmer than I was before getting pregnant! I have never been as slim in my adult life as I was when feeding and I was eating a lot of food.
