I’ve talked about it before but when you have a baby your life changes in more ways than the obvious.
Suddenly the world seems like a different place. You have new priorities and the things that used to motivate you and hold your attention may not any more.
It’s not unusual to want to change career after having a baby. You’ve just discovered how incredibly awesome your body is and quite possibly have achieved something that you never truly believed was possible until that moment. It starts you thinking that maybe there is more to life. Maybe you are capable of doing more than you had previously believed.
Then the doubt creeps in. It is fear that is making you doubt yourself. You may feel that now you have had a baby it is too late. You can find yourself feeling trapped. Thinking that, you’ve missed the boat. How could you change career? You need your current job to pay the bills. You can’t quit your job and go back to study especially now you have a baby who is depending on you.
Where there is a will there is always a way. It’s not going to be easy but are you really prepared to spend the rest of your life feeling like you are in the wrong job?
With the start of a New Year people everywhere will be making resolutions. Why not make one yourself?
Don’t worry about the how. Just decide on the what and do one thing to get you started on that path. Maybe read a book or take an online course. Rome wasn’t built in a day and the changes you want to implement aren’t going to happen overnight. Just slowly chip away with small steps in the right direction. Remember ‘a river cuts through rock, not because of its power, but because of its persistence.’
